ABOUT ANNI

A woman with long dark hair, smiling, leaning on a wooden table with her hands, in a cozy room with a wooden shelf behind her. The table has a bowl of berries, a plate with cookies, a ceramic mug, and some snacks.

I’ve never been particularly interested in staying in one box.

My background is a bit of a mix.

I started out in Nutritional Therapy, which gave me a strong grounding in physiology and health. A few years of working with people later, I became increasingly interested in everything that was going on around the health problem.

Because people are complicated.

You can understand exactly what you should do and still not do it. You can be incredibly confident in one part of your life and second-guess yourself in another. You can want something badly and still be the person repeatedly getting in your own way.

I found all of that much more interesting than simply telling people what they should be doing.

Eventually, it led me to Coaching Psychology.

And, if anything, I came away with even more questions.

Not for the sake of being difficult. Although I’m sure there are people in my life who would dispute that.

I just don’t think people make much sense when we try to explain them through one thing.

Sometimes physiology matters. Sometimes it’s what we’re telling ourselves. Sometimes the plan itself is ridiculous. And sometimes there’s nothing particularly wrong with the person or the plan — it just doesn’t work in the life they’re actually living.

I’m interested in figuring out which one we’re dealing with.

I tend to question the first explanation.

Most of what I know about people, I learned from working with them.

The theory matters enormously to me. But I’ve also spent years sitting across from actual people, and actual people have an annoying habit of not behaving exactly as the textbook suggests they should.

These days that might mean coaching someone one-to-one, teaching a room of students, delivering a workshop or contributing to a project with an organisation.

I like the variety. I think I’d be fairly miserable doing the same thing all week.

OUTSIDE OF WORK

A woman taking a selfie while outdoors, wearing a navy riding helmet, a navy vest, pinkish long-sleeve shirt, and blue pants, seated on a brown horse with greenery in the background.

Horses have been part of my life for a very long time.

I worked professionally with horses for nine years, mainly riding and producing young horses. For a long time, that was a huge part of my professional identity. These days, the horses are something I do for me.

I’m getting back into competing now, I still have goals with the horses, and a fairly unreasonable amount of my time is spent at the yard.

Beyond the horses, I travel whenever I can, read about things completely unrelated to whatever I’m supposed to be working on, and generally like having enough freedom in my life to get very interested in something new.

WORK WITH ME

If something here has made you curious about working together, you can see what that might look like below.

Anyway, that’s probably enough about me.
